From Stewart Bankier - our man in Sydney
Photo on the left is me playing during an evening memorial service on board HMAS ARUNTA (Anzac Class Frigate) CO is Tim Brown a submariner. The ship was enroute from HMAS Stirling Naval Base in Freemantle WA to the gulf for a 6 month patrol in Nov last year. The service was on the anniversary of the sinking of HMAS SYDNEY in WWII, never recovered and lost all 645 hands and no known wreck. Date was Mon 19 Nov 07. A google search will give anyone lots of info if interested in a bit of Aussie history. On the right is the sober moment of our downunder Burns Night - excellent range of malts, good company and a few sore heads in the morning! click here to return to the title list |
