Membership of the RNPS is open to anyone on the active lists of Her Majesty's Naval and Marine Forces, anyone who has served on attachment to the Royal Navy from other Naval Services (foreign and commonwealth). the Civil Service. MoD Police and Auxiliary and Reserve Forces. Retired personnel from these organisations are also eligible.
Honorary Membership can be offered to suitable persons at the discretion of the Committee, subject to ratification at the next AGM. Examples include members of other HM Forces or civilians working exclusively within the Naval environment. These members would either be a benefit to the Society through their knowledge or experience of piping or drumming, or they would themselves benefit from an organisation such as the RNPS where a similar body is not available to them (eg ex Army or RAF players or civilians working under contract to the RN who can offer expertise or wish to learn where their own organisation does not have a similar arrangement). Each honorary membership will be allocated on a case by case basis.
The opportunity to become a "Friend" of the Society may be offered to anyone who does not fit into the above categories and who is sponsored by a member. Ratification is also required at the next AGM. Although not "members" of the Society, friends are welcome to attend all the Society's events but where places are limited priority must be given to members and honorary members.
The current annual subscription for all categories of members and for friends is £5, normally payable by cheque in the joining year accompanied by bank standing order for payment on 1st April for following years.
