Lieutenant Commander Ian D Kempsell BSc CEng MIMarEST MCGI RN (Rtd)

Photo taken at Cologne

Ian joined the Royal Navy in 1976 as an Artificer Apprentice, was commissioned in 1980 and retired in 2010 as a Lt Cdr (E) (ME), having served in both T22 Frigates and a T42 Destroyer. He was trained to play the pipes at Queen Victoria School, Dunblane, regularly attending Murrayfield Rugby Internationals with the world renowned school Pipes and Drums. Having played solo for many years thereafter, settling in Devonport enabled him to join the City of Plymouth Pipe Band where he remains an active member, supporting the many and varied events undertaken throughout the year.

Living in Plymouth, Ian works hard to maintain the RNPS Accounts in the best traditions of the Service and, although they may not always be fully compliant with the latest BR, he prides himself on their accuracy and openness. Any member is welcome to view the accounts at any time and, of course, all the regularly audited books are freely available for review at the society's AGM. Queries and Questions are always welcome. The latest set of accounts are available after every AGM and are posted on this website under the AGM tab.
